Stefan Pierer of KTM wants to buy Ducati
1,500 million euros rumored to be on the table.
KTM Group has been strengthened since the day Stefan Pierer became CEO of the famous Austrian motorcycle brand, now partly owned by Indian giant Bajaj Group.
Pierer is reportedly in the process of mocking the Volkswagen Group with an offer that exceeds 1.500 million euros for the acquisition of Ducati . Here we go again: Ducati a la venta?

Not so fast: Herbert Diess is the new CEO of the Volkswagen Group, who replaces Matthias Müller, and that makes a big difference because Diess was the former boss of BMW Motorrad. He loves motorcycles, especially Ducati motorcycles, as he regularly rides a Ducati Panigale and passionately follows Ducati's racing activity in MotoGP. In fact, he and the CEO of Audi, Bram Shot, they had met with the CEO of Ducati, Claudio Domenicali, in Valencia in the last round of the World Motorcycle Championship of 2018. Nothing leaked about the meeting, but surely they didn't talk about the career plans of 2019.
Even so, Pierer is said to have his point of view set in Ducati, waiting for the financial pressure of the matter “dieselgate” force the Volkswagen Group to sell its motorcycle jewel. The rumors also included Triumph and MV Agusta on Pierer's shopping list., but he confirmed that Ducati will always remain his top choice.
