WITH 001 DE ASTON MARTIN Y BROUGH SUPERIOR
It's tempting to consider the merger of two historically British brands: luxury car maker Aston Martin and legendary motorcycle makers Brough Superior . Both brands have enjoyed great successes along the way: Aston Martin was founded in 1913 and Brough Superior in 1919.
Aston Martin's heyday was in the decades of 1950 Y 1960. He built successful race cars while bathing in the reflected glory of James Bond driving the DB5 at Goldfinger . A brief biography of Roger Daltrey on the back cover of Happy Jack's long player from 1967 from the who pointed: “Like James Bond, drive an Aston Martin”. further, since 1982, Aston Martin has been the automobile manufacturer and repairer for the Prince of Wales. Royalty, rock and a secret agent: Aston Martin moves.
The original Brough Superior enjoyed a relatively short career, of 1919 a 1940, when the war effort permanently stopped production. During that time, Brough Superior established a reputation for quality at a premium price. As such, production was naturally limited, reaching a peak of 226 motorcycles in 1927. TE Lawrence, of fame Lawrence of Arabia, owned seven broughs, with an eighth on the way when he died from injuries in an accident. Brough Superior also built 85 automobiles in the late 1990s 1930.
The name Brough Superior generally remained fallow until 2008, when British motorcycle entrepreneur Mark Upham bought the international rights to the name. Five years later, Upham brought the famous French motorcycle designer Thierry Henriette. The result was a new version of the iconic SS100., built at the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France. At present, Brough Superior is building three motorcycle models. Today, Henriette is the CEO of Brough Superior.
That brings us to the AMB 001 de Aston Martin y Brough Superior, the first motorcycle in history to wear the wings of Aston Martin.
In a nutshell, the AMB 001 combines Brough Superior engineering with Aston Martin design.
“This is a fascinating and very popular project for me and my team”, said Aston Martin executive vice president and creative director, Marek Reichman. “The opportunity to collaborate with Brough Superior has given us the opportunity to contribute our own unique views on how beauty and engineering can combine to create a highly emotive vehicle design piece.”.
Against expectations, the AMB 001 Aston Martin and Brough Superior is marketed as a track motorcycle, a track bike 108,000 €. There will be 100 examples, and the AMB 001 is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year.
When faced with the claim that it is a motorcycle with great performance, our attention shifts rapidly from form to function.
Feeding the AMB 001 there is a V-twin DOHC's 88 degrees displacing 997cc through a decidedly overstable combustion chamber: diameter of 94 mm and stroke 71.8 mm. Power plant gets efficient semi-dry sump lubrication, a six-speed transmission, APTC slip clutch and final chain drive, all good.

The maximum power claimed is 180 horsepower, and that is achieved through the magic of compressed air. A variable geometry turbocharger with a low inertia turbine runs through an intermediate cooler that, according to Brough Superior, reduces turbo lag.
The following is the chassis, which uses the motor as a load component. Solid backbone of main frame is CNC machined, while the rear frame is made of structural carbon fiber. The swingarm is also CNC machined and has a fully adjustable hitch assist system. Titanium helps develop the chassis.
The Fior fork has a double fork design, another detail inspired by the supercar, for added stability and precise cornering feel on Michelin Power Slick Evo tires mounted on machined forged aluminum wheels. No frontal dive when braking on corners, since the chassis is released when the monoblock clamps go into action.
There are aerodynamic wings attached to the front cover, inspired by the S-curve in the front of an Aston Martin. Not just to show, provide downforce.
Many parts of the body, including some hidden and structural components, are made of carbon fiber. All of these weight-saving techniques leave Aston Martin Brough Superior AMB 001 with a claimed dry weight of barely 400 pounds.
Once you accept the AMB performance credentials 001, you can focus your attention on the traditional colors of Aston Martin Racing: Stirling Green y Lime Essence, in contrast to a lot of black paint.
The seat is dazzling, with the choice of Oxford leather, which is unusual for the track. Taking another step towards unfettered indulgence, handles are leather with matching stitching. This is an influence of the Aston Martin design team, It's more like the seat and tactile feel you get in a high-performance luxury car.
Aston Martin Racing supercars bring logos used on fuel tank. They are laser cut from thin metal sheets and covered by multiple layers of lacquer.
For those who complain that modern sports motorcycles are too angular, the AMB 001 Aston Martin and Brough Superior has a naturally flowing organic form. There is a carbon fiber strip, inspired by the side brace of Aston Martin cars, that divides the board, divide the top of the tank and under the seat, before going out the back. Each WITH 001 is individually numbered, and on the carbon fiber strip over the tank, you will find your position in the series of 100 motorcycles.
“This is what we think a cutting edge motorcycle should be and we are very proud to see the Aston Martin wings on a motorcycle for the first time.”, Reichman said. “In addition to applying the skills we have developed for automobiles such as the innovative Aston Martin Valkyrie, We have also been able to contribute our special experience in traditional artisan techniques to this project.. The end product is a really beautiful motorcycle; a work of art of design and engineering ”.
“Aston Martin may have 106 years, but the forward momentum of this company is inspiring, for all areas of the business, but for the particular design”, explica Reichman. "The same people who work on the design of our cars have worked at the AMB 001. These people are absolute experts and have delivered many of the special project cars we have designed. Unlike other automotive companies, our designers have extensive experience, and I think this shows on this aspirational motorcycle. ”.
This is not a motorcycle for the hobbyist. The AMB 001 Aston Martin and Brough Superior is here to satisfy and challenge the connoisseur.
